Feeling genuinely appreciated lifts people up. At the most basic level, it makes us feel safe, energized, and valued. This might be as simple as a small Slack DM saying “it’s brilliant to work with you”, or a public shoutout on our #core-shoutouts channel!
People love feeling celebrated! It’s important to show appreciation to let people know they are valued and that you recognize their contributions.
How does this relate to our Our Mission, Vision, Values?
United Team

We actively recognise each person's contributions - because when we value individuals, we strengthen the whole team.
Make it Happen

We celebrate progress and honest effort, not just perfect outcomes, recognising that taking ownership and learning from mistakes deserves acknowledgement too.
Drive Change

We support our colleagues through transitions and growth, celebrating not just what they've achieved but how they've evolved and adapted along the way.
Build and Give Trust

We're consistent in our recognition - creating psychological safety where people feel comfortable both giving and receiving appreciation openly.

When we’re together in real life, we commonly give appreciation through small gestures and body language: casual affirmations in the hallway or compliments on your presentation at the coffee machine. ****There’s more opportunity for casual and organic interactions which means that delivering and receiving appreciation is easier.
When we’re distributed, we have to be more intentional with our interactions and make efforts to send that friendly Slack message or GIF.
